15 Day Sightseeing Tour of Italy

Many highlights on this tour including seeing Romeo and Juliet's balcony in Verona and the Sistine Chapel. Have the camera batteries charged for this tour.

Day 1

Depart Australia for Rome via Dubai.

Day 2

Arrive in Rome and transfer to your accommodation.  The rest of the day is free to explore this Ancient Capital.

Take a walking tour in the evening - visit Trevi, Pantheon and Piazza Navona – the scene from the Movie Angels and Demons.

Day 3

Walking tour in The Eternal City including:

  • Forums – the Ancient Ruins of Rome
  • Victor Emmanuel Monument – history dating back to 1870 Unification
  • Piazza Venezia – the place Mussolini enticed crowds during the 1930’s
  • Capitoline Hill – 1 of the 7 hills of Rome
  • Then ascend the Stairway of Michelangelo
  • Visit the Town Hall

Over look the Gates of Rome Forums – Archways of Titus

Day 4

Guided tour of:

  • St Peters
  • The Vatican Museum
  • Sistine Chapel

Day 5

Journey north west to the charmingly located city of Orvieto in the Umbria region to visit its black basalt and yellow Cathedral, an excellent example of Italian Gothic architecture. By early evening you’ll be in Siena with time to visit this jewel of Tuscany.  Sit in one of the cafés surrounding the Campo and admire one of Italy’s most unique squares, famed the world over for its Palio horse race

Day 6

A free day in Siena - perhaps see Siena – Assisi – Montepulciano or Cortona...

Day 7

Siena – San Gimignano/Classico Chianti...

Drive this morning to San Gimignano, one of Tuscany’s greatest attractions. Its medieval squares, town walls, streets alleyways and 14 towers make it very unique.

Maybe take an opportunity to do a Bike tour around the street through the Tuscan village.

Arrive in the Florence area in time to join the outing for an optional Tuscan dinner.

Day 8

Walking tour – Ponte Vecchio, Piazza Della Signoria, Duomo, Piazza St Croce, view Florence from Piazzelle Michelangelo, see the Uffizi Galleries,  Take in a Leather Demonstration.

This Renaissance gem and city of the Medicis will keep you enthralled for a whole day. Traffic is banned in part of the historic centre so visitors can wander at leisure and admire the city’s timeless beauty in relative peace and quiet. Don’t miss out on the included walking tour with a local guide which features most of the city highlights. You will see the Piazza Santa Croce, the beautiful Piazza Signoria, the Palazzo Vecchio and its courtyard, the Loggia dei Lanzi, and, to top it all off the Piazza del Duomo and its Cathedral with the Giotto Campanile, and the magnificent East door of the Baptistry known as the Gate to Paradise.

Day 9

Enjoy a the opportunity to do Tuscan cooking school and visit the Medici Chapels

Meet at a Cooking school for the morning and go off with the school leaders to the markets to buy the ingredients necessary for the meal you are about to create.  Back to the school and participate in this unique way of preparing Tucson style food.

In the afternoon, enjoy at your own leisure - if you would like something to do, visit the Fine Arts Museum and see Michelangelo’s David.

Day 10

Florence – Pisa – Cinque Terra.

See the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Baptistery and Cathedral. 

Day 11

Walk the UNESCO region of Cinque Terra – Walk the villages of Cinque Terra and see the Olive Groves of the district.

Day 12

Cinque Terra to Verona.

Visit the Ferrari factory

Day 13

See Romeo and Juliet’s balcony in Verona.  Explore the Ancient University Township.

Transfer to Venice in the afternoon.

Don’t miss out on the optional gondola trip, gliding along the picturesque canals with a local troubadour to serenade you.

Day 14

Walking tour of Venice.

Venice is more like a marvellous film set than a real live city, with its criss-crossing canals, gondolas and water buses, arched bridges, palaces and little quiet piazzas. The included tour starts with a boat ride and is followed by a visit to St. Marks Basilica and a chance to watch Venetian glassblowers fashion their delicate objects as they did centuries ago.

Day 15

Water Busto the Isle of Bruano – a Fishing Village Island not far from Venice.  See the Bright Colours of the Doors facing out to the Waterways.

In the evening arrive Venice for flight to Dubai to return home.
