Competition Rules

Normal T20 International Rules apply with the variations below:

The normal playing conditions of 20 / 20 cricket apply.

There is no inner circle.

The fielding team must have a minimum of two stationary fielders in catching positions for the first 6 overs.

There must never be more than two fielders behind square on the leg side.

Points:

4 for a win, 0 points for a loss

2 for an abandoned match

There are no bonus points

A completed match requires each team to have completed 10 overs.

The tournament committees' decisions are final.

The following will also apply:

1.   It is the intention of the tournament organisers that the results of the games be determined on the cricket pitch, and not by the match officials.  Accordingly, if extra time is needed to complete games after that as prescribed, and subject to availability of personal and facilities, games will not be concluded until the umpires have determined that the weather conditions and/or light is not acceptable to complete the match.  A no result match will have the points for that game split evenly between the teams.  No morning game will go past a 2.30pm conclusion and no afternoon match will go past 6.00pm in the evening.  The Duckworth Lewis system will be worked out on 20 overs per 75 minutes to calculate the number of overs remaining in the days play.  No game will be carried over to the next day.

2.   Any games resulting in a tie. At the end of the match, a Tie Breaker format of 2 overs each occurs, then the following applies:

a.   Each team will bat for two overs using a maximum of Three (3) batsman in order to score as many runs as possible.

b.   If the batting team loses Two (2) wickets during the Tie Breaker than that Tie Breaker innings is deemed to be finished.  The score at the time of the last batsmen dismissed will be the Tie Breaker score for that team.

c.   The team batting 2nd in the original game will bat first it the Tie Breaker.

3.   If at the end of the Tie Breaker game the scores are still tied the following formulae will be used in this order until a winner is declared.  Once a team has fulfilled the formulae at any stage above the other team they will be declared the winner.

The winner shall be the team who:

a.   Has lost the least number of wickets during the original 20 over game preceding the Tie Breaker…Next

b.   Has lost the least number of wickets in the Tie Breaker Game…Next

c.   Has hit the most number of Boundaries (including 4’s and 6’s) in the Original Game…..Note (a boundary is considered when the ball hits or crosses the boundary line/rope.) ….Next

d.   Has hit the most number of Boundaries (including 4’s and 6’s) in the Tie Breaker Game…Note (a boundary is considered when the ball hits or crosses the boundary line/rope.)….Next

e.   Has conceded the least number of runs from “No Balls” and “Wides” during the Original Game……Next

f.   Has conceded the least number of runs from “No Balls” and “Wides” during the Tie Breaker game…..Next

g.   The toss of the coin conducted by the umpires.  The team who didn’t call at the toss of the coin at the start of the original match will call in the coin toss to decide the winner of the game.

4.   There are no third umpires for this tournament

5.   A free hit will follow a front foot no ball.  The next legal delivery bowled will be the free hit.  The batsmen can only be dismissed by a runout

At the end of the round robin play, the teams’ standings will be determined by the following:

A win will give the team 4 points on the table.  All the wins will be combined to give the total points for the competition.

The top 4 teams will compete for the Championship Trophy.

The semi finals will be played with the top qualifier plays the 4th qualifier.

The 2nd qualifier plays the 3rd qualifier

The winners of these games will proceed to the Grand Final.

The team 5 – 8 on the table will compete for the 20-20 Cup

The 5th qualifier plays the 8th qualifier

The 6th qualifier plays the 7th qualifier

The winners of these games will proceed to the Cup Final

The teams 9-10 will play off on Friday morning.

First teams will be ranked in order of points base on 4 points per win.

Second teams will be ranked by Nett Run Rate.

Two Teams Level on Points

Should two teams be equal on points, the result of the game between the teams will take precedent in determining who proceeds to the next round.

Should the game between the two teams be a no result, then the Net Run Rate calculation should apply.

Should the Net Run Rate be equal, then the team who has scored the most runs in the tournament will be seeded higher in the competition table.

Should this be equal, then the team who has conceded the least runs shall be seeded higher.

Should all this be equal, a coin toss conducted by the Tournament Director and the captains for each team.  The team which has travelled the furthest to get to the tournament will get to call at the coin toss.

More that Two team Level on Points

Should more than two teams be level on points, then the net run rate calculations will apply.

Should two of these teams be level on the points and the Net Run Rate calculation, then the result of the game between the two teams take precedent.

Should this be a no result game, then the team who scored the most runs during the tournament will take the higher place on the competition table.

Should this be equal, then the team who has conceded the least runs shall be seeded higher.

Should all this be equal, a coin toss conducted by the Tournament Director and the captains for each team.  The team which has travelled the furthest to get to the tournament will get to call at the coin toss.

The Tournament Directors judgement/decision will be finally and binding between the teams.

The teams net run rate will be calculated in the normal cricket way.

i.e The team will have the total number of runs scores divided by the total number of over used to score the runs.

If a team is dismissed before using all of there overs, then the total number of overs allocated to that innings will be used for the calculations.  In a normal full game this is 20 overs.  If the Duckworth Lewis system is used, then the total number of overs determined to be bowled for that innings will apply to that team if they are bowled out before the end of the innings

For example.  If a team is dismissed in the 16th over of the innings, then 20 overs will be used to calculate the net run rate.  If a team batting 2nd achieves the total required to win the game before the start of the 20th over, then they will only use the number of overs used to obtain the score to calculate the Net run rate.  If the runs are score after 16.3 overs, then 17 Overs will be used in this calculation.

The net run rate will be calculated to the third decimal point.
